Lake Polan, III
Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO

Mr. Polan founded Allied Warehousing Services in 1977, and he has led the Allied companies ever since. He is the third generation President of the parent, Allied Realty Company and a controlling stockholder. Mr. Polan holds an AB degree in Political Science from Columbia University.

Mr. Polan is CEO of Allied Realty company, Allied Warehousing Services, Inc., Reo Distribution Services, Inc., Allied Transportation Services, Inc. and Allied Processing Services, LLC. He also manages a number of real estate management companies owning and operating primarily warehousing and industrial properties in West Virginia, Virginia and Kentucky. He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Huntington Area Development Council and a Director of the Preservation Alliance of West Virginia.

Jeff Smith
President of West Virginia Operations

Mr. Smith has over 20 years of logistics experience and has been involved in the development of each of the principal companies involved in Allied Logistics. Prior to assuming these responsibilities, Mr. Smith was the Chief Financial Officer for the parent company, Allied Realty Company. Before that he served as an account representative for Smith Barney Harris Upham and as an actuarial consultant for American Benefit Company. He is a graduate of Marshall University with a B.A. in Mathematics and earned his Masters Degree in Mathematics at Duke University.

Mr. Smith is active in both the International Warehouse and Logistics Association (IWLA) and the Council of Chemical Logistics Providers (CCLP).

Reo B. Hatfield
President of Virginia Operations

Mr. Hatfield graduated from Marshall University’s College of Advanced Traffic and has built his career in the logistics industry. After servicing as a Sergeant in Korea in the U.S. Army, Mr. Hatfield was employed by Smith Transportation where he spent 18 years in a variety of positions, including the Southeast Regional Vice President. Mr. Hatfield next moved to Transales Corporation (Inland Port) where he was Vice President of Savannah Foods, Inc. for several years. Reo subsequently established his own logistics company, Reo Distribution and merged with Allied Logistics in 1989. Mr. Hatfield has substantial experience in all phases of transportation and has implemented traffic programs for several regional companies in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.

Mr. Hatfield is actively involved in several community, government and civic organizations. Reo served as Vice Mayor and City Councilman for the City of Waynesboro for 8 years. He was named “Civic Leader of the Year” all 8 years he was in office. He was named “Leader of the Industry” in 1994 and was named “Waynesboro Businessman of the Year” in 2006. He is presently Chairman of the 25th House of Delegates (Landes) for the State of Virginia, a Board Member of the Waynesboro, Virginia Police Advisory Board, a member of the Chief of Police Association, and is Deputy Commander of the Waynesboro Police Department (Reservation Division). Mr. Hatfield served as Chairman of the Republican Party in Waynesboro and is a Private Pilot. He has also taught several college classes in logistics in Georgia and Virginia.

Michael J. Carroll
Vice President of Operations – Warehousing

A graduate of Marshall University with a B.A. degree in Accounting and History, Mr. Carroll has over 30 years experience in the logistics field. He has a broad distribution experience in public warehousing including grocery, chemical, and pharmaceutical products in his over 20 years with Allied.

Mr. Carroll is a past presenter at the Warehouse Education and Research Council Annual Conference, active in the Local Emergency Planning Committees, and a member of many civic organizations.

Carl Vance
Vice President of Operations – Processing

Mr. Vance joined our staff in 1999, following a 15-year career in the transportation industry. A graduate of Marshall University, he has held a wide variety of upper management posts. Immediately prior to joining Allied, Mr. Vance served as General Manager of a multi-location $13,000,000 truck leasing operation in West Virginia, Kentucky, and Ohio. Responsibilities include significant experience in both human resources and sales.

A native of Huntington, West Virginia, Mr. Vance is a member of the Chemical Industrial Council and has served as an officer in the Barboursville Youth Basketball League.

Jennifer Wolfe
Vice President of Operations – Transportation

Ms. Wolfe has over 25 years of Transportation experience. She served on the management team of Preston Trucking in Operations Management for 5 years. From Preston Trucking, Ms. Wolfe joined Smith’s Transfer Corporation in rating, billing, and labor relations. Ms. Wolfe joined Reo Distribution in 1991 in the Operations Department where she was General Manager of all operations. She is now Executive Vice President of Reo Distribution. Ms. Wolfe now works in all executive management areas of the company including consolidation, logistics, transportation, warehousing, and freight management.

Sharon Driscoll
Senior Vice President – Virginia Operations

Ms. Driscoll began her career in the Logistics industry at Smith transportation where she worked with both the payroll and telemarketing teams before moving into direct sales. She spent 15 years on the management team of Smith before co-founding Reo Distribution in 1988. Ms. Driscoll is now Senior Vice President of Reo Distribution where she oversees both the brokerage and customer service departments.

Edward L. Canterbury
Vice President of Sales & Administration – West Virginia

Mr. Canterbury joined Allied Warehousing Services, Inc. in 1982 as the Director of Sales & Marketing, and then as Vice President. His leadership during the past 20 years helped Allied Warehousing obtain its natural reputation as a leader in the logistics field. Mr. Canterbury is also Vice President of Allied Transportation Services. He has over 50 years experience in transportation and warehousing, serving in executive positions in both sales and operations. He has a B.S. Degree in Business Administration from the University of Charleston.

Mr. Canterbury has served as president of several local Civic Clubs including the Civitans, Kiwanis and Junior Chamber of Commerce. He is presently active with the Warehousing Education and Research Council and speaks on special occasions to college transportation classes. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.

Rebecca Polan
Vice President, Allied Realty

Ms. Polan graduated from Smith College with her B.A. in Psychology in 1999 and from American University with her Masters in Public Administration in 2004. Since joining Allied Realty in 2005 as the Director of Operations, she has taken over managing the day to day operations, marketing and leasing of Allied’s downtown West Virginia and Virginia real estate holdings. Recently becoming the Vice President of Allied Realty, Rebecca will spend 2008 spearheading a major development in Waynesboro, Virginia and continuing to lease out all of the vacant spaces in Huntington, West Virginia. Her Masters degree specialization was leadership development and she has brought a fresh perspective to the company’s management team.

When not in the office Rebecca is an avid competitor both nationally and internationally in the Olympic Equestrian sport of Three Day Eventing.

Doreen Jeffers
Quality Manager and Regulatory Compliance

Ms. Jeffers, a graduate of the University of Akron with a degree in Accounting, joined Allied Logistics in 1996 as an accountant for Allied Transportation. Through the years, she has advanced through the company accepting the position of Quality Auditor for Allied Processing in 1999, then was promoted to Quality Manager for Allied Processing in 2001. After a stint as the Production Manager for Allied Processing – Nitro Facility in 2007, Ms. Jeffers now serves as the Quality Manager for Quality Department for Allied Processing Services and Allied Warehousing Services.

Karen R. Lyzenga
Chief Financial Officer

Ms. Lyzenga joined our firm in 2007 after four years at a non-profit agency. Previously she had spent 15 years in public accounting performing audits and preparing tax returns, including the tax return for Allied Logistics. Ms. Lyzenga graduated with a B.B.A. from Marshall University and received her CPA designation shortly thereafter. She is a member of AICPA, WVSCPA, and is President of the Huntington Chapter of WVSCPA.

Marilyn Polan
Director of Human Resources

Ms. Polan previously worked for ten years in executive search in Dallas, Texas and moved back to West Virginia six years ago to join the family businesses in human resources. She graduated with a B.A. in English from Wright State University and holds a Certificate in Human Resources from Collin County Community College.

Having served on many local charity boards in Dayton, Ohio and Dallas, Texas, Ms. Polan has worked closely with Huntington Main Street, United Way of the Tri-Cities, Marshall University, is currently on the boards of CONTACT Huntington and Federated Jewish Charities and is active with the local SHRM (Society of Human Resources Managers) chapter.
